Asphalt Paving St. Joseph puts down and takes care of asphalt driveways, parking lots and private roads in St. Joseph and the towns around it in Buchanan, Andrew, Platte, Clinton and DeKalb counties, plus across the river in Doniphan and Atchison counties, Kansas.

This is hill country by Missouri standards. Much of St. Joseph sits on loess bluffs above the Missouri River, and the soil that makes those bluffs is wind-blown silt: hard as brick when dry and quick to wash or slump when soaked. Steep driveways, alleys that run down the hill, and lots where storm water arrives fast are normal here. Getting water off and away from the pavement is the first thing we think about on every job.

At the estimate

We measure, walk the slope, look at where water enters and leaves, check the edges and probe for soft ground. Then you get a written price that separates removal, base work, asphalt thickness and finishing. If something touches the street or a state highway, we tell you that we will confirm the local requirements before work is scheduled.

On the job

• Soft or washed-out base is dug out and replaced with compacted crushed stone
• Edges on slopes are backed with soil so they do not break off
• Asphalt goes down hot and is rolled before it stiffens
• Any change in scope is shown to you and approved in writing first
